The Leader of the Muslims

When the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was ill, he appointed Abu Bakr to lead the prayers in the masjid. ‘Aa`isha said to the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, “My father is not able to serve in this capacity, for he is too tender-hearted to do this. Please ask ‘Umar to do the job.” The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “No, Abu Bakr will do it.” In Conquest, we learned that she suggested this because ‘Umar’s recitation was later. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam became angry and said, “Allah, his Prophet and the Muslims will accept no one but Abu Bakr to lead the prayer!” (more…)

Background

His name was ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Quhaafah. Before Islaam, he was known as ‘Abd Ka’bah. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam named him ‘Abdullah.

In appearance, he was skinny and dark-skinned.[1]

He was born 2 years after the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Abu Bakr lived in the same neighborhood as the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, but before the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was 25, no contacts were made between them. However, it was clear that both the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam and Abu Bakr became close friends after that time.[2] (more…)

Bismillah. I took the “History of the Khulafaa’” class with AlMaghrib a looong time ago. That was my very first AlMaghrib class, and the BEST. My imaan got a major boost and my love for the companions grew. Their stories are awesome mashaAllah. And if you know how they lived and the things they had to endure, your love for them grows. Before that class, I felt like I had no clue who they were.

Anyways, so I was reviewing me notes for an upcoming halaqa and decided to compile my own short notes on some of the companions. I’m posting a very shortened version of what I have….But inshaAllah it’s still enjoyable.

My primary source is The History of Islaam series by Akbar Shah Najeebabadi. (mashaAllah, awesome series. I would definitely recommend buying). If the information I give/quote is not from there, I specifically mention so.

Here are my other sources:

And who better to start with than Abu Bakr radiyallahu ’anhu?

A continuation of the signs of the day of judgement…. #8 – #18

8: The Spread of Peace

There is a hadith that says there will be a spread of peace and there’s a hadith that says there will be a spread of fitna. And these two were mentioned in the same hadith, so they must be at different times. Whenever people follow Islam, there will be peace. Whenever there is a lack of religion, there will be corruption and a lot of killing.

Khabbaab came to RasulAllah sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and RasulAllah sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was leaning on Al-Ka’bah. Khabbaab came to him and was complaining about the difficult situation that the Sahabah were going through in the early days of Islaam. (more…)
